MAYOR MARTIN SIGNS DECLARATION

A slow moving snow storm dumping very heavy snow is causing numerous power, cable and telephone lines to collapse into town streets creating unsafe conditions. A number of roads are impassable due to uprooted trees, large limbs and downed lines.
Existing conditions may continue into the afternoon as more wet snow is forecast. Another storm is anticipated tomorrow. Public Safety Departments are very busy responding to calls and the Emergency Operation Center has been activated.
All residents are asked to limit their travel in town until further notice. If travel is necessary caution should be used to avoid downed wires and tree limbs.
