William Martin is a life-long resident of Greenfield. Since his election to the Town Council in 2004, he has served on every sub-committee of the Council and has chaired the
Appointments and Ordinance Committee, the Community Relations Committee and the Local Options Committee. He also served on multiple community task forces, commitees and projects as well as coaching community youth basketball and baseball.
Mayor Martin is proud to be the first student in the School of Nursing to receive the Chancellor's Community Service Award from UMass in 1993. In 1997, he received the Veteran of the Year Award from the American Legion. He is the author of "VeteCare", a comprehensive state veterans care plan. In 1992, he received the Greenfield Community Access Television Producer Award for the production of a Veterans News program.
Mayor Martin is married to Isabel Field, a retired Special Education Teacher, and resides at 125 Old Albany Road. He has three children: Danielle, Catherine and Jarod and a granddaughter Cadence.
