Annually, on December 1st, the Town's winter parking ban goes into effect and continues through April 1st. Generally the ban prohibits parking on the south and east side of any street. Parking is allowed on both sides of Main Street, Federal Street, Bank Row, and all metered spots for all hours except between 1:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. All parking lots can be used during day and evening hours, but cars must be out of these lots between 1:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M.
There are two lots that have designated overnight parking areas. Both the West Main Steet Lot (behind Green Fields Market) and the Hope Street Lot (Corner of Prospect Street) have designated areas for overnight parking, but cars must be moved out of these areas for snow plowing between 8:00 A.M. and 10 A.M.
Residents should listen to local radio stations for other winter storm and parking advisories. Residents can pick-up free winter sand at the D.P.W. Yard at 209 Wells Street during Monday - Friday, 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and during storm operations.
